Linchris has had a long standing policy of hiring and promoting from within which not only provides job security to employees but also paves a path to growth within the organization. Most of the general managers at Linchris started as department heads, or even line level employees and currently the average GM tenure is 9.1 years.

Employee of the Year

At Linchris, we believe in acknowledging members of our team for their hard work and dedication. Our annual tradition of choosing an Employee of the Year was designed to honor one exemplary employee who best represents the Linchris Hospitality Standards for "Driving Excellence" in a particular year. Nominations are based on letters of recommendation from each hotel's General Manager. Additionally, each GM is also given the opportunity to speak with the panel of judges to explain why his/her employee should be named the Linchris Employee of the Year.

Billy Lynch Named Linchris Employee of the Year

As a Breakfast Cook at the Holiday Inn in Salem, NH, Billy Lynch wears a number of hats. When he is not in the kitchen it is not uncommon to find him jumping behind the front desk when it gets busy, grabbing a shovel to help clear a walkway, or helping a guest with their luggage. Billy can now add to his many hats one more, Linchris "Employee of the Year".

According to GM, Danielle Calkins, Billy is a great example of the perfect Linchris employee. "We appreciate Billy's constant hard work, dedication, teamwork and proactive behavior he shows each and every day at the property. Billy cares about the well-being of the hotel and our guests and always goes above and beyond to make that positive impression and lasting memory. Billy is one of our employees who is always mentioned by name in positive comments by our guests." Billy makes it a point to attend every meeting in order to stay up to date on all information regarding the hotel's performance and is a valued member of the hotel's Guest Service Committee. His co-workers admire his tenacity and he is very well loved among his teammates. Robyn Avellan, Kitchen Manager, says, "Billy helps keep our department fun and happy. We've had some really great times and Billy has a lot to do with that. He's a fantastic employee that I am so proud to have on my team." Steve Grundy, Chief Engineer, describes Billy as "dependable, reliable, and conscientious… a great asset."

Billy has shown himself to be an enthusiastic, creative person who is eager and willing to learn new tasks in many different departments. He enjoys working in several different roles including Breakfast Cook, Maintenance and Security. Billy has also briefly trained on the front desk during the Night Audit shift. Of these opportunities, Billy says, "My favorite thing about working at the hotel is the ability to cross train. It allows me to feel like an intricate member of the team and it also allows me to focus on problem resolution. The more I know, the more I can help."
